Collaborate Ultra for Instructors

Start Here

Getting Started with Collaborate Ultra
Collaborate Ultra is a web conferencing tool that's available right inside of Blackboard. You must log into your Blackboard account to get started. Google Chrome is required in order for Collaborate to function properly. Students and instructors must use Chrome.

BEST PRACTICES:

  • Make sure you are using Google Chrome or Firefox and they are up-to-date.
  • Record Session so attendees can review what they may have missed.
  • Upload PowerPoints, PDF's, and other material before the session begins or email to attendees.
  • Mute attendees in large sessions. If you need to, you should also stop participants from sharing their video from Session Settings.
  • If using Wi-Fi, try to be as close to the router as possible if you are not hard-wired. (HARD Wired (ehternet cable) is preferred)
  • Close all other programs and windows other than Blackboard and Collaborate if possible (especially streaming services such as netflix, YouTube, etc.).
  • Use file sharing instead of Application Sharing, if possible.
  • Turn off video for participants if it is not needed.
  • If you encounter errors during the session, please report the issue inside the collaborate session if possible. The "Report an issue" is located under the 3 bars at the top left of collaborate ultra.
