Identifies verbatim material that can be apporpriately quoted or paraphrased

 

Articulates and applies initial criteria for evaluating information and its sources

Examines and compares information from various sources to evaluate reliability, validity, accuracy, authority, timeliness, and point of view or bias

 

 

Analyzes the logic of arguments in the information collected

 

 

Recognizes prejudice, deception, manipulation or bias

 

 

Recognizes the cultural, physical, or other context within which the information was created and the impact of context on interpreting information

 

 

Demonstrates an ability to find information about an author's and/or publisher's qualifications and reputation

 

 

Demonstrates an ability to interpret bibiliographic references in sources as a means to assess vailidy and accuracy of information

 

 

Demonstrates an awareness of the need to verify or corroborate the accuracy and completeness of data or facts

 

Compares new knowledge with prior knoweldge
