1) AMA Style uses superscripts in the text, which correspond to an entry in a “References” section at the end of the paper. Number your references at the end of your document in the order they first appear in the text; do not alphabetize.
2) Do not indent if the citation extends to a second line.
3) Authors are listed with the last name first followed by the first and middle initials without periods. (E.g.: Skinner, BF)
4) List all authors if six or less; for more than six authors list the first three followed by “et al.”
5) Journal titles are abbreviated according to PubMed abbreviations and italicized.
6) In journal titles and book titles, capitalize all major words.
7) For online journals, the DOI (Direct Object Identifier) is preferred over the URL link.
8) When URLs are used, ensure that they are a direct as possible and the link still functions as close to publication as possible.
